Current owner Jason Wanke’s father began building in 1959. Jason grew up in the business – in fact, some of his 11 employees began working there before he was born. Wausau Homes is a leading member of the Building Systems Council of the National Association of Home Builders and is responsible for the organizations continued existence. Wausau Homes is also a member of various state Home Builder Associations, the Wood Truss Council of America and represents the industry at the Uniform Dwelling Code for Wisconsin. Community Involvement
Wausau Homes is a strong supporter of many charities and specific programs that benefit youth and housing in general. Special projects include:
- Building and donating the nation's first combined Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts Center
- Building and donating the Mead Wildlife Center, a Wisconsin environmental educational facility
- Pioneering and donating materials to a unique partnership between several high school construction programs and Habitat for Humanity to teach construction skills and build homes for the needy
- Building a special playhouse for a special little girl for the Make a Wish foundation
Wausau Homes - Medford is also involved in Habitat for Humanity, and technical education at local high schools.
