Is there a cost for an initial design rendering?
When you are comfortable with our building process, you will pay a design fee for design services and plans, if you do not already have adequate plans from another source. Then you and the Builder will negotiate a contract* to build the home. Your independent Wausau Homes Builder will ask for a deposit that can then be applied to the final purchase price of your home. This amount is agreed upon and collected by your Builder once all of your selections have been made and the contract signed.
How long does the homebuilding process take?
Wausau Homes has a simple step-by-step process to guide you through decision-making and planning. You and your Wausau Homes Independent Builder will create a progress and payment schedule targeted toward your anticipated move-in date. Once the design and contract are completed and the site is prepared, the Wausau Homes components are delivered and set on the foundation. From there, your independent Wausau Homes Builder works with subcontractors and material suppliers to build the home. The time for completion varies with the size of the home and other factors. Each situation is different, so you and your Builder can negotiate a completion date to include in your contract. As with any construction project, there could be factors impacting completion that are beyond the Builder’s control.
If I want to tear down and re-build, how does this differ from the usual process?
Tearing down and re-building is similar to building a custom home from scratch. Your timeframe to move in with be discussed with your Wausau Homes Independent Builder. Your timeframe will only extend slightly for the amount of time it takes to tear down, clean and prep the land.
*Wausau Homes is not a party to that contract and does not guarantee the Builder’s obligations under the contract.
