Jeff has quickly become an expert at navigating the homebuilding process and is ready to help make every homebuyer’s experience an enjoyable one from start to finish.
Get to know Jeff on a more personal level with our Q&A.
How long have you been a Wausau Homes builder?
I have been a Wausau Homes Builder for about two years now.
How did you get into the home building business?
I started with Wausau Homes Wausau in July of 2017 as their Marketing and Salesperson for the Design Studio. In February 2019, I took over operations as the Builder.
Why did you choose to be a Wausau Homes builder?
At the beginning of 2019, I was working in marketing and sales for the Wausau location, and at the time, they were looking to find a new builder. Since I had been working with Wausau the past couple of years prior, I felt comfortable enough transitioning into the new job role. It has been quite the learning experience, but I have found success in asking a lot of questions from those more experienced around me.
When you're not building homes what do you like to do?
I really enjoy relaxing at my cabin on Pelican Lake, working around the yard, and vacationing with the family.
What part of the custom home building process do you find the most rewarding?
To me, the excitement Set Day creates because I love watching the homeowners and their families’ reactions to their dream house being put up. It is an amazing process to watch!
If you were building your dream home what is the one feature you would have to have?
Lots of windows is a must in my book! One day, I would like to rebuild my lakefront cabin and capture the amazing sunrises through more windows.
What is one tip you would give to all custom home buyers?
My best tip for future home buyers is to plan for the future. You may not want a living space, or a bathroom in the basement when you build, but future homeowners may. It is very inexpensive to add windows and put in a bathroom during the construction process.
Are there any home building trends in your area that stand out?
So far, 1/3 of the homes I have built have been based on the chalet style floor plan from Wausau Homes.
What has been your most rewarding build to date and why?
All the homeowners I have worked with have been a pleasure. However, one of the last homes I built had a lot of challenges. The house was in a very wet area which delayed our build, but when it finally dried up, the owner of the foundation company I work with sadly passed away, delaying the build even longer. The homeowners were disappointed with the postponed move in date but understood the situation. Despite everything that happened, they are now in their house and love it.
What events can interested home buyers find you at in the coming months?
Once this quarantine period is over and normalcy returns to the nation, I invite others to come see future Set Days.
