Meet our March Vendor Spotlight, Sierra Pacific Windows, a division of Sierra Pacific Industries, which is a family-owned forest products company.
Based in Red Bluff, California, Sierra Pacific Windows is one of the largest manufacturers of superior quality, custom wood and vinyl windows and doors in the world. It is the only fully vertically integrated window and door company, in which the company owns the forestland and manages the entire manufacturing and distribution process. Sierra Pacific Windows has a combined manufacturing production space of over 1.4 million square feet in California and Wisconsin. Its windows and doors are distributed via more than 600 nationwide dealers, distributors, and company-owned locations.
Sierra Pacific Industries is committed to managing its lands in a responsible and sustainable manner to protect the environment while providing quality wood products and renewable power for consumers. The company’s forests are certified under the Sustainable Forestry Initiative®. Sierra Pacific Windows utilizes nearly 100 percent of every piece of wood brought to its 18 mills and seven biomass-fueled cogeneration power plants.
History of the company:
Sierra Pacific Industries is a third-generation family-owned forest products company with a rich history. It’s founder, Archie Aldis “Red” Emmerson, was born in Oregon, close to mountains and forests and had a father who was in the timber business. In 1949, the two leased a sawmill together and formed R.H. Emmerson & Son. In the years that followed, they acquired more and more land and lumber interests until Sierra Pacific Industries was incorporated in 1969.
What products do you offer?
We offer a comprehensive line of clad/wood windows and doors along with a full line of premium vinyl windows and doors.
What sets Sierra Pacific Windows apart in the industry?
The things that set our windows and doors apart have big implications for longevity and performance. For starters, the exteriors of our clad wood windows and patio doors are fully encased in heavy-duty, extruded aluminum that’s twice as thick as roll-form cladding. It only takes one hailstorm to demonstrate the benefit of this important feature. Although more expensive to manufacture, all but our anodized collection is AAMA 2604 or AAMA 2605 powder coated for greater surface hardness, scratch resistance, and color retention than provided by ordinary liquid paint. Underneath this cladding is the thermal superiority of select woods. Our wood is treated and protected against insects and moisture with our patented, naturally organic CoreGuard Plus™ preservative. Inside our world-class frames is high-performance glazing with customized options for your exact weather and environmental conditions. As a finishing touch, our insulated glass uses No-Metal TrueWarm® Edge polymer structural foam spacers. This dramatically improves energy efficiency and reduces seal failures often caused by the more common metal spacers. Our high-quality and high-performance vinyl windows and doors are made right in our Sierra Pacific manufacturing facility in Merrill, Wisconsin, which means they’re crafted with many of the same features and design options as our premium wood products. The latest materials, innovative engineering, and advanced technologies are used to enhance their beauty, solid integrity, and durability.

How do you see windows changing in the next couple of years?

What is a key tip or hack when it comes to picking out windows?
Windows and doors are not an area to cut back. No one ever says, “Wow, I regret putting in a window or door here.” Natural light equals wellness in the home. Another quick tip would be to not undersize your windows. Use blue painter’s tape to draw your new windows out on a wall to help visualize the size and scale.
Why should someone go with Sierra Pacific?
With a breadth of different products to choose from, along with a virtually unlimited selection of colors and options, coupled with an industry leading warranty, there is a Sierra Pacific Window product to fit every desire and budget.
